Initial Meeting – Getting to Know the Client

Each project starts with a meeting at which we want to get to know our clients, their vision of what the end product will look like and more importantly how they plan to use the space we construct. Whether a custom home or basement renovation, what is important during this first phase is that by communicating your dreams and desires our team can then offer design recommendations and choices.

Preliminary Estimate and Design – Establishing the Budget

With an understanding of your objectives and the budget you have in mind we use this as a starting point to develop the initial design for your project.

Design Finalization

This is where our design team reviews and offers guidance in areas of exterior specifications and interior finishes. We will suggest alternatives such as triple pane glass versus double pane or Insulated Concrete Foundations as opposed to traditional approaches for foundations. With each suggestion you will receive information about costs and the associated benefits. Once we have completed this phase the client will have a firm budget and a clear understanding of the appearance and components of the completed project.

Building Agreement

The following items are indicted in the Building Agreement. This becomes the scope of the project and also is the document upon which both the client and CityWide will rely upon should any changes be requested. Specifications are finalized, including but not limited to drawings such as “as built” architectural and engineering , contracts are signed, start and estimated completion date defined. Zoning/Bylaws reviewed, Survey is completed.

Construction Begins

During this phase there will be a number of milestones defined where the client will be required to meet on site with our project manager. For example with a custom home they would be defined as Foundation, Framing, Lock-Up and Pre-Finish. As these are the critical points during the construction stage, should any out of scope requests be made there may be the opportunity to include them. At the Pre-Finish stage we confirm the finishes that have been selected prior to ordering them. This approach allows clients the opportunity to better visualize their space and at times has resulted in changes to the previously selected finishes.

Completion – Move In and Follow Up

This is the final phase. The project is complete and ready to be enjoyed. We will walk you through your new project, explain all equipment that has been installed and provide a binder with all warranties and instructions. We will also address any concerns or deficiencies that the client may have prior to move in. In addition throughout the project we will have taken digital pictures of the construction and they will be provided to you as part of your package. A 90 day and 12 month follow up visit will be scheduled as part of our client services program.
