After consulting with the home owner, figuring out how the piece would be used, and what fit both the budget and the space, this custom built-in entertainment unit was created to meet all of their needs.
The client wanted a unit that would support the TV, while housing the various A/V equipment, and provide ample storage for their young family.
The final design was 10 feet wide, with a 54″ centre unit, and two 48″ side units. The side units feature shelving, and the centre unit has one deep drawer for storing toys and games for the children, as well as a shallow drawer for holding DVD’s and Blu Ray discs.
The 32″ deep bottom drawer has full extension sliders rated for 200lb of weight.
There is conduit that runs from the open centre cavity up to the TV area to keep the visibility of unsightly wires to a minimum.
The unit is made of cabinet grade birch plywood with maple facing. It is sprayed and sealed to match the trim and wainscoting in the rest of the house.
